Live Table Tennis this weekend at a stadium near you!

We would just like to alert you all to the quality Table Tennis which will be played in our New World Wellington City TTW Open this weekend (July 30-31) at the Empire Table Tennis Club on Marine Parade, Petone.

We have received over 75 entries across 30-40 events on Saturday and Sunday.

The Open starts at 1:15pm on Saturday and we have a quality field including 20 of the top 85 players in New Zealand.

Sunday also sees the Oceania qualifying event which begins at 11.15am. The winner of this has direct qualification into the Oceania Cup in 2017.  The rest of the schedule is as attached below or see here.

Age group play ranges from the Under 13s through to the Over 70s with many doubles and mixed doubles in these age groups as well. In addition to the age groups there will be B, C, and D grade events happening throughout the weekend.

Toasted sandwiches and other refreshments will be available for purchase so if you’re not already scheduled to play come along to watch!

Thanks to all our volunteers and to New World Wellington City, SproutMedia, TTSports and Pub Charity for their kind support.

Winter Interclub Series 1 – Grade Champs Results

A good turnout of 23 players fronted for the Grade Championships on Tuesday following the end of Winter Interclub – Series One.

Eleven played in the Premier event, including three Division One interclub players trying something a bit more challenging, each performing well. Three pools played round robin sections with post sections also being played on a round robin basis to ensure players got plenty of matches. Remarkably, all nine post section matches went to four sets, indicating very even contests.

The winners of the Premier sections were Frank Fu, Paul Brown and Depak Patel. Their final round robin saw Depak come out on top with Frank second and Paul third.

Each of the Division One and Division Two events had six entrants and both events involved a full round robin to determine the placings. Tony Rutledge and Vladimir Vysotskiy came out on top of these groups.

Full results:

  1st Depak Patel
  2nd Frank Fu
