Here is a Joola Winter Interclub Series 2 Update with Premier Stats from their Week 1 & Division Draws for Divisions 1 and 2 (the bye in Division 2 may be filled by a Waterloo team – TBD).
Series 2 – Premier results after Week 1

Earlier Malcolm Wong and a few others from Wellington went to the Nelson Open this year and Malcolm kindly filed a report.
Malcolm Wong, with Mark Nalder (Nelson), won the Over 50 and 60 Men’s Doubles and they were runner up in the Over 40 Men’s Doubles. Malcolm reached the semi finals of the Over 50 and Over 60 Men’s Singles. In his Over 50 Men’s Singles Group Malcolm beat the Over 50 and Over 60 Men’s Singles winner Mark Nalder 3-2 (13-11 11-5 13-15 7-11 11-1). His third win over Mark. The first was in the 2005 Marlborough Open Over 50 Men’s Singles final. Malcolm first played in the Nelson Open in 1998 where he won the Over 35 Mixed Doubles with Ulrike Kusche (Canterbury) and the Over 40 Men’s Doubles with Joachim Kusche (Canterbury). His sole singles title there was winning the 2011 Nelson Open Over 50 Men’s Singles.
Ben Collin’s reached the semi finals of the Men’s Singles where he lost to the eventual winner Yi Sien Lin (Canterbury) in a tough seven game struggle. Lin won 9-11 11-4 9-11 11-4 11-5 7-11 11-8. Winners and runner ups of events are attached.
There were 39 entries, which was up from last years total of 31. Thanks to the organisers, Robin Knight and Michael Holmes (Tournament Controllers), Paul Op den Buysch (Xpand2play), Kay Hazeldine (Certificates and Finance) and Glenda Ferguson (Finance). Also to the Cafeteria Ladies, Karen Holmes, Katharine Ritchie, Noelene Wells, Debbie Watson and Dianne Watson. Photos are on the TTNZ photo archives.
Malcolm Wong (International Umpire) ran an umpiring course on the Sunday (14 June). Congratulations to Paul Op den Buysch, Katie Roddis and Ashley Windsor who qualified as Regional Umpires.

A reminder that all divisions restart back to zero for a fresh competition now that school is back in session.
Specifically:

There is one more team and a bye each week so note your bye week (the team with the bye for this week has been notified). - Grade champs July 21/22 are on their normal nights for each division grade (as per Series 1) – you may enter also the grade higher than you play in too if you like, this is run as a singles tournament per grade.
- Series 2 Divisions start July 28/29 on the same nights as Series 1 (draw coming soon)
We are pleased to announce the 2015 Coffee SUPREME Table Tennis Wellington Open Championships.

Premier
In the final playoff Titan Terriers won 7-2 over Empire Eveready reversing an earlier defeat during the round robin. Waterloo Wasps beat Empire Energisers to claim third in the 3rd vs. 4th playoff.

Division 1
In division 1 the top-of-the-table playoff between Empire Elders and Waterloo Wolves was hard-fought but the experience of Empire Elders won out with a 6-2 win. For third place Onslow just pipped Empire Eagles 6-5 with the result going down to the last match!

Division 2
Division 2 Series 1 completed the previous week with the winners Empire Egrets after a double round-robin. The Egrets had lost to The Combo in the first round robin but had won 9-2 in the second robin on the final night to cement the win.

Division 3
On the final night, while Empire was battling it out for first, Waterloo battled it out for third.
Division 3 was won comfortably in the end by the Empire Eskimos who were dominant throughout with Jess and Diana D’Audney each at or near the top of the individual results list and in the final beating the Empire Eels 5-0. However the third place playoff went close with a 3-2 win for Waterloo Walnuts vs. Waterloo Whippets.
